New Year, New Cycle

Our next Cycle (number 15 since the return) will take place at The Tank at the end of this month and over Valentine’s Weekend in February.

Last cycle ended in a major upset with two new shows taking the top spots: The Adventures of Bungo Calamity: Apocalypse Clown penned by SERIALS old-timer AJ Ditty (B.B.’s Inferno) and Sybil Creepe’s House of Mysteries by our belovèd erstwhile performer Laurel Andersen. These return in week 1 alongside the unstoppable Reggaeton juggernaut Watagatapitusberry by Karen Marulanda. We’ll have two more highly competitive pilots entering the fray, one by longtime favorite SERIALS writer Paige Esterly (Connie Lingus) and another by young upstart Grace Tomblin Marca. All in Week 1!

And in Week 2 we’ll see two new pilots including the eagerly-awaited return of champion Kenjiro Lee (Egg Quest) to the Serials stage (puppets? probably!) along with a blast from the way past– Ben Schrager on the keyboard putting up some Old School Serialized Magic for your viewing pleasure.

That’s Crystal Arnette and Ben Schrager being eponymous back in 2015 in The Psychopath Retreat by Sofya Weitz at Anciens Regime #SERIALS.

This cycle also sees the return of past favorite directors BUBECK and Alex Church-Gonzales as well as the versatilely-talented SMJ. Serials regulars like Will Vonada, Marx, and Nate Netzley will mix it up with old guard Serials directors like Tom Costello and Kristan Seemel– do these old dudes still have what it takes to put a show up in 6 hours? We’ll find out! And some brand new blood is always a welcome addition to the nearly instant theater fuss: A.G. Levy will show us her take on Serialized Theater, and we can’t wait to see what new tricks new kid Sarah Shapiro has in store for us.

The stage will be full of Serials Favorites including April Tuiolosega, Zavier Aujay-Barnhart, Sarah Alice Shull, Jem Palmieri, Marx, Nathaniel Stornelli, Maddie Bundy, Jessie Cannizzaro, Emmie D’Amico, Natalia Mar Urzua, Hunter Levi Rothstein, Andie Fuentes, Stephanie Orta-Vazquez, Maddie Ryan, Christine Pollnow, Emily Oliveira, Jen Jarnagin, Eric Berger, Georgia Kate Cohen, Nicholas Louis Turturro, Macy Lanceta, Sanjna Narayan, Nikki Cannon, and Max Bowen. AND the acting return after a brief hiatus of our tireless hosts Elizabeth Spindler and Michael Ortiz (glad to have you back on stage, buddies)!

New faces in the performance ensemble will include Henri Brusasco, Ashley Renée Hurd, Jennifer Soraya Rose, Marina Fess, Josh Bloom, and Kristin KP Sgarro. Can’t wait to see what they’ll be putting down!

Will Vonada, Jen Jarnagin & Sabrina D’Andrea cower behind Hunter Rothstein’s Supreme Leader in Egg Quest: The Saga of the Breakfast Burritto by Kenjiro Lee.
